OCTOBER 2000 NEWSLETTER

So, lately we've been getting lots of e-mails that say,
"Dear LOST AND FOUND,

What?

Sincerely,
A. Listener."

That's because we've finished Something. And we were so excited, we put an announcement on our website promising to send people Something. People wanted our new album, but they were baffled by our offer to send them Something.

Allow me to clear it up:

Our new album is called Something. If you'd like to get our new album, just go ahead and ask for Something. If you'd like more than one copy, you can ask for a few of Something, or even a whole bunch of Something. If you're a new listener, you might even ask for a little of THIS with your Something.

If you'd like to order Something, you can go to this link: "stuff to buy" Now that I've cleared up the matter of Something, on with the month.

Michael's digs

"Just here to fix the ceiling, ma'am"

October was Home Improvement Month for LOST AND FOUND. Michael had a little work done on his house. By "little work," I mean ripping off the front wall and pouring in something on the order of 5 yards (more than half the "full nine yards" often referred to) of concrete.

Michael, being the savvy homeowner, had someone else do the work. I, being the savvyless type, did the work myself. He got a new walkway, I got what looks like an escaped-convict photo and a halfway-completed ceiling. But, that's how it goes with Home Improvement Month.

Early on in Home Improvement Month, we went to Disneyland, or right next door, to play at the Youth Specialties National Youth Workers Convention. On the main stage, we decided to play a new song that we forgot to remember, and so found ourselves in a career-risking move right in the middle of Home Improvement Month! Imagine how sheepish we felt trying to play a song from Something that we'd not yet actually written. Oops, right? However, at the late-night event, tons of people showed up, we only played songs we had fully written, and our pals CPR did a grand set to cap off the night.

St Clair Smurfs

How would Pete spell M&M?

We left the Golden State and headed to my own Buckeye State, spent a day or two preparing for recording Something, and then began our daily drives to Adrian to record with our old pal Joe Jenkins. Joe does an amazing job at making us sound good, and Something is the third album we've recorded with him. If you'd like to order Something, you can go to this link: "stuff to buy" After the mixdown, we visited our friend Byron and played a little dinner-party type event. Fun was had by all. The next night, our friend Jerry Webster hosted a concert in Ypsilanti. Then we played to a great crowd in St Clair (which is a lot further north than St Clair Shores, in case you're heading to one or the other and are hoping to be on time). Next morning found us rising q-u-i-t-e early to make it down to Cincinnati (which Pete in our office refuses to spell correctly) to play for an appreciative group at a school that goes by the name of CHCA. That night we played in Finney Town (which Pete might spell correctly, except that he considers it to be part of Cincinnati). The next morning, I drove Michael to the airport and he flew on home to L.A.

Our next journey was to Raleigh, North Carolina, where we played at the 10th anniversary of the TEC event they host there. Had a fine crowd and were pleased to be so welcomed. Next morning, I flew home, while Michael visited some relations in the Raleigh area. At home, we then rested up or, in my case, had serious oral surgery, causing great pain that continues as I write. Before November began--the month when all my relations were born, including myself, to whom I am related--in Ohio we held the annual looting known as "Halloween." My daughters dressed up in costumes, as many young folks do. Eleanor went as a Native American, while Lily dressed up as her favorite television actor. Lily got a bit tired before we rounded the entire block, but as it turns out, her costume came with a handy carrying hook on top.

Treaters

And that's the end of a simple month for the LOST AND FOUND band. Don't forget about Something, and remember: If you'd like to order Something, you can go to this link: "stuff to buy"

To see photos of this month's crowds, you can go to the Photo Phrenzy. Also, we and our friends at Churchnoise have a wonderful site available for your checking out. When it's fully functioning, it will be groovy as all get out. You can find the site at www.churchnoise.com. Rock on, and I sure hope the best candidate won by the time you read this note. george
